A few weeks, I discovered an article promoting someone on Twitter was about "up your tired winter coat". Ooh! I thought I like sprucing! It is a great way upward trend & to reduce, after all - but when I clicked the item I found sprucing involved the addition of various straps, brooches and Doohickeys, that's good but not very me.
For me it is both a "fix it" and "reduce this" type question - how can I update that tired winter coat, so I don't need to buy a new? I think it's important that it not just so that it better but that I see over there to feel better.
I have basically three coats for the whole year - a light cotton Hoodie (which I take most of the year), an expensive for me big pile-cotton parka type coat for freezing days and a cheaper, faster "wants" to find one I wear when it is not so cold and I need a bit neater than the parka.
So how can I refresh those?
For me there are two main areas, the dirty - tired mein my bags and sleeves. The Hoodie gets thrown in the wash regularly, hurray for cotton. The parka and you would not easily washable in particular to the but wash spot on the cuffs improved things much. How for the bags do I troubleshoot my pockets as some women their handbags-treat a website for the accumulation of detritus. Sometimes this is but mostly good (I found a Fiver in my parka jacket when I put it on the first time this year!) bad (crumbs dog of Biscuts, bits of paper, sticky sweets). Emptying the junk - e & cleaning out the crumbs and dirt out of the pockets in the future don't look any better (although the line of the coat ruin many junk), but it will make it feel better for me and enjoy it to use more.
One other thing: my wants — it is not 100% wool of but wanted heavy and it is heavy woollen style - bobbly. A little ridges with a Debobbler would much cleaner look. I suspect there are also some hooks which could be cleaned up. I'll also debobble/de-snag my scarves and gloves-Fäustling for good measure.
Another issue: were the zippers on my coat hoodie and parka play until recently - I could with zip below in place to secure a few stitches and rub a little SOAP on the teeth to stop snagging and zipping until one would make less frustrating experience.
Another, more involved what: the feed on a wool-ish has always bugged me - it is icky polyester and now it is there - torn too. I could use an old fun patterned shirt, replace - with the original feed than pattern - Upcycling idea and conversion in one.
So that's what I do / will do. Do you have any ideas for ways to the refreshing an old coat?
